i might buy a friends 1989 rs camaro, my friend drove in it and he said that it gets up and goes. but its only a 2.8? how fast do they get up to 60 and what about 1/4 mile time? please cuz i have to tell him if im going to buy it next month.
Not to quick, but alright for mid 80's-early 90's technology. The good news is with about 500 dollars you can make them decently quick. Stock the 0-60 is around 10-11 second with a mid-low 17 second 1/4. With the 500 bucks you can drop them into the low 16's.

Like 3.1 Firebird said, not that quick by today's standards, but not too bad compared to other cars of the same age. My experience with the 2.8/3.1 is they're tough, and hard to kill, therefore they take to mods nicely. The biggest drawback tho is our cars are just really damn heavy...
Yea those 2.8Ls were a joke. Psh, I wouldn't waste my time with them. Now the 3.1Ls....yea thats another story.
jk guys. It depends on how many miles and what not. I wouldn't say my car is SLOW by any means off the line it is ok. Top end....ehhhh.
jk guys. It depends on how many miles and what not. I wouldn't say my car is SLOW by any means off the line it is ok. Top end....ehhhh. None of these thirdgens that have a 2.8 or 3.1 are fast. These are considered to be quik. They are good looking cars with some pep and not much power. Yea in that time they were considered good but remember even the there were 350s and 305s which are still weaker then some of these new american sports cars. I would go for looks first and then bring i some of the mods that may be worth doin. How much does he want for it and how many miles are on it?
