Carburetors that fit the original intake
I have a 2.8L v6 in a 1984 Camaro. I drove this car as a daily for a long time then one day it started sputtering, then wouldn't start at all. After taking some time to investigate the carb wasn't sending fuel to the engine and I mean what do u expect on a 36 year old all original car. But so I rebuilt the carburetor and put it back in the car and this time it wasn't working at all. So I took it to a shop and they took one look at it and said I'm better off getting a new one because even if they rebuilt it these stock carbs are junk and it wouldn't be trust worthy or a long term fix.
Now after the back story the main reason for this post. I'm looking for a replacement carburetor that will fit my original intake. The carburetor in it, sure y'all could guess, a inline 2 BBL vari-jet. The stock intake has a really small bolt pattern for a carburetor.
So if anyone has ideas of carburetors that would fit and work please let me know

You have an original, unmolested carb (except by you). How is this not rebuildable, unless you f#*ked it up somehow?
But it sounds like you incorrectly identified the problem in the first place - you are not getting fuel to the carb. Check the fuel pump.
