I removed my stock intake to install a used one which consists of plenum,accell runners, and stock base all ported by lingenfelter. The issue im having is the new base does not line up to the heads. I can barely get bolts started on either side of the intake and when I start to tighten them the intake doesnt seal against the head. My motor was supposedly rebuilt.

Could the deck or heads being shaved caused this issue?

Any ideas on the cause or solution?

Dying to get this intake on the car.

If your block was decked it could affect intake alignment.

 

Does this mean the original intake was shaved to fit?

I tried to mic the 2 intakes but could not get an accurate measurement due to the cast side

 

Maybe, i have also noticed some aftermarket intakes just dont fit right and need a couplue holes oblonged

 

I was thinkin this also. Is the intake for the 87-up heads? And I'm assuming your 85 has perimeter bolt valve covers
