Rear end options

I have been a member for a long time (BitchinRS), but haven't been active for a few years. Mostly working on my 1968 F100 during that time. I couldn't not regain access to my old account. So created a new one. So sad to learn Ked85 passed away in a car accident. He contributed to the V6 community here greatly, and was a very stand up guy & father!

This was posted in the trans/drive train board, but haven't gotten any replies. Figure there's not many V6 guys over there, and might get more help here. So please forgive the cross post.

My rear end seems to be failing again. It was replaced with a used unit about 3 years ago for reasons of getting it back up and running quickly.

I know the V6 axle spline count is different then the V8 rears. What about the drive shaft to rear yoke? Is it possible to swap in a complete V8 rear end? I eventually plan on rebuilding the whole car. At which time a big block will be going in. So installing something that helps move me in the direction is preferred if possible.

For now I need to focus on one project at a time, and need to finish the rebuild of my 1968 F100 before I give the Camaro full attention. The Camaro just needs to run for now. Like it has so dutifully for many many years and miles.

Thanks.
1992 Camaro RS 3.1L 485K miles on the original, and mostly stock car. Minor mods only. All except 105K of those miles were very enjoyably driven by me. It was my first car purchased after getting my DL back in 2000.

Re: Rear end options

I have been driving my 92 RS since 92 and it has 480K miles on it. The only change from stock was that I did the 3.1 to 3.4 change over (I still have the 3.1) and I had a new posi rearend installed. I don't know where you are at but with the posi rearend and a set of 4 blizzak tires I go pretty much anywhere in snow as deep as 10 to 12 inches with no trouble at all... Well, there is one problem...the ground effect snow plows in deep snow and throws it up over the nose of the car making it a bit difficult to see at times... Anyway, I have been happy with the posi rearend change and it was pretty reasonably priced.
