Stoppped At a Machine Shop today...

...asked the guy about port and polishing and he said he didnt do that, but he said that he did suspension stuff and tower braces. He said that he could make a custom one for my car. He then went to the back of the shop and brought one out and test tried it on the car, it actually fit. Though he said he woulds have to lower it though to clear the hood. I am going to stop there later in the week to get a price.

Yeah; keep us posted; but is that a regular automotive machine shop? It's odd the guy won't do a port and polish. Maybe he just doesn't want to; and that doesn't sound like a good sign.

I know of alot of machine shops that refuse to port & polish. They do not want to have to buy the customer new heads if they screw it up. I mean a guy walks in with a set of 2K in heads and they *uck it up then the shops outta 2K to replace the heads(AND THE NEG PUBLICITY LOSS OF BUSSINESS ECT). They will however do everything else you ask. Mill, align bore, hone... ect ect. Just will not do a port & polish.

I know of several auto machine shops that don't do any type of head work beyond surfacing, installing bigger valves, valve jobs etc. as porting done correctly requires a flow bench, and unless the shop wants to specialize in that sort of thing it's not worth it.
Look for a performance oriented shop and they should be able to help you, though you may not find one nearby.

Anyway, I stopped at the machine shop today. He said he could make a custom one to fit just right. He also said that if I can get 2 or 3 people also that it would be about $140 each. Less if more people. I think I might pay him the full price, take a few pics and then show you all. Then you all can decide whether or not you want it or not. I am sure if 2 or 3 of you later wanted to get it he would still charge the 140. Also, he said that he would powder coat and color you want. LEt me now!!!
