High mount brake light.

Well I didn't get to work on my brake lines this weekend, becuase they didn't arrive. All though I did manage to finally fix my "third eye"! I saw a post some while back that some one (can't remember who) had the same problem as my self. I have also noticed that no third gen in my area (and there are a crap load) has a function third eye and thought I would share how I fixed mine.

I have the third eye that mounts on the inside of the rear hatch. I belive it was used on '90 and above cars. I took the assymby that houses the light apart for the 100th time and took a closer look. I found that one of the contacts had become lose due to heat. So I pulled the conector out and bent it a little. Reinstalled every thing and bingo it worked!!.

Simple, but it made me happy as hell, becuase it was the last little thing that didn't work. When I got the car it a had a lot of little problems. Now it feels complete!!!! :lala: :lala:

[nit pick mode] Nope, it was used on 91-92 cars. Mine is in the spoiler and it DOES work....all 5 lights. [/nit pick mode]

My high munt light always gives me problums all of the time. I replaced the plastic with the contact for the light(because the interior was gutted.) now I have a wire running up to it along one of the struts.

It's the main reason why you'll only see a high-mounted stop light on the OUTSIDE of the glass on a 1986 f-body. 1986 was the first year for mandatory 3rd brake lights.. unfortunately, GM's design was a poor one, and I go through bulbs like crazy. Good thing they're only $1.20 for two!

Geez the bulbs for my third brake light are $7.08 a PIECE and that's the cheap price from GMpartsDirect online.

Bear with me on this one:

Independent Records, believe it or not, has exactly what you need to fix your nagging CHMSL problem. At the front counter, there should be a box marked 'Clearance'. Inside are stickers from just about every band imaginable. Purchase one about 5 inches square (I opted for Pantera), then apply it to the glass over the CHMSL lens. Let sit for an hour, and voila! No one sees that your CHMSL is inoperable. The ostrich solution: If you cant see it, it isn't there. (The blind spot in your rearview, however, remains there.)
