Well, I replaced my air shocks over the weekend- one was completely blown out, the other had a rather quick leak. It feels much better now that I'm not driving on the springs anymore!

I also managed to get one of the drums off the junkyard axle; the left rear one. That's the one with the collapsed brake line. Amazingly, I found a brake line at Pep Boys, pre-flared, with the correct metric flares & fittings! It cost me $2.50; I just have to bend it to fit the axle, and I'll be set. The other drum has rusted to the axle hub... no amount of penetrant or banging with a hammer could un-stick it. I even backed the brake shoes all the way off, too- and nothing. The shoes aren't holding it on... dammit.

Now, if only it'd rain and rain so we could get out of our drought, maybe I could wash the car. I haven't washed it since the summer!

Hey Tom goodluck getting the other drum off. I'd try to find some sort of puller, like one of those 3 jaw one, maybe like something used on a big rig, thats may get it off. I'm surprised you did have any rain today, it's been raining and snowing in CT all day. If you want you can come to my house and wash your car, if you want to drive like 4 hours.

Hmmmm
Weather pattern may have something to do with the small block chevy distributor gasket - "O" ring debate
Tom, bigger hammer, longer throws and EAR PLUGS and goggles will remove the drum.

I actually was beating the crap out of the thing... the guys on the tech board have given me some hints- most of which involve destroying the drum to get it off. I'll try again this weekend; hopefully I get further. (sigh) It's good to know, though, that I wasn't missing something obvious for removing the drums.

Damn...No bath since summer! I bet your car looks like the company car from the dirt factory.

Haha, yep, sure does! I should get one of those bumper stickers that says "this car is undergoing a scientific dirt test - do not wash"! It sucks when "life" gets in the way... oh well.
