:( so sad

yeh, was being a good weekend, and then i found it. Oil and not inside the motor but lying on my driveway. Yep a leak, not even 30k on the block yet and i've got a leak. But there's good news, the car was sitting for eh.......12hrs or so, and the oil spot is the size of a quarter or so, and also the motor is still under the jasper warranty, soooooooooo that means i'm sitting high and tight for 3 years or 75,000 so get to take it back to them over summer break. 1 quick Q though. Is there a way to look at a motor and see that it's been to eh....6k or so? just curious, don't want them saying it's all my fault. Thanx in advance.

It might just be the distributor o-ring. Did they just install a new long block (block, heads, cam, oil pump/pan)? I bet they didn't install a new 1" ID o-ring on the old distributor. Mention that to 'em. You could see if you've got oil puddled up around the back of the distributor. It'd be hard to see, and you might have to lay across a fender to look between the cowl and distributor... watch the jewels on the edge of the fender!

i'll have to take a peak at that o-ring, i remember it being mentioned as a source of leaks way back when, i know last time there was a leak it was coming from the oil-press sending unit's sensor thingie, neway they neglected to replace it when the motor was changed sooooooooo they replaced it for free. Hopefully, they'll be so kind on this one too. Oh, and i'll watch the jewels, and the belt (don't wanna scratch that shiny paint. ) which is more important. ... ahhhh equal. thanx again.
