HONEST?
Wanna spend your time wisely?
Swap your old heads over the counter for a fresh rebuilt set.
Spend your time driving.
Then go get aset for free fro mteh head rebuilder.
Play with those.
MANY articles/kits, etc out there.
Look in back of any Hot Rod, SUper Chevy.
Includes vides, etc.
I've spent 10 hours on one V-8 head.
3 more V-8 cylinder heads to go!.
I won't waste my time on the V-6 ones.
They work just fine, as is.
Fresh guides & good springs are the key to performance from the V-6 heads.

Search for headport in the V6 forum (click on search on the upper right corner of this screen), I typed up an exhaustive message about it. But quick links for you:

http://www.sa-motorsports.com/diyguide.shtm

http://www.summitracing.com sells the Standard Abrasives kit, and http://www.eastwoodcompany.com sells their own kits. I believe you get more for the $$ thru Eastwood.

Why waste your time because 10HP is 10 HP gain. Why not. If your doing it yourself you'll be happy. If he says why waste it on a V6 then ask about the Buick GN or TTA, those were V6's?

It's only a waste of time if YOU think it is.

Most people I know would wonder why we haven't swapped in V8's.

I've spent 10 hours on my one V-8 head.
My effort is worth it.
I plan to gain 30-40 hp.
My machinist still has to "build" (valve job, springs, guides, etc).
I DREAD DOING 3 MORE CYLINDER HEADS.
But, I can say, my HP rewards are worth the effort.

Getting a set of fresh rebuilt 2.8/3.1 heads will raise ya the 10 HP ya think ya gained anyway.
AND SO MUCH EASIER & QUICKER.
I'm gonna port & polish this & that....
Until you get a good sized engine (V-8 or the PROPER V-6),
your effort may not REALLY return the gain you seeked.
YOU WILL LOOSE POWER BY DOING A Port & Polish job, wrong.
Your time equals hours & hours & hours of effort.
And the $$$$ for the tools.
That's why a 3.4 swap is such a great deal.
For the hours of porting & polishing this & that on a 2.8/3.1, I got it all, by installing my 3.4 and just turning the key.
So can one by obtaining a good fresh rebuilt 2.8/3.1 head.
Just suggesting a better way to get the best results.

Braggin rights don't get ya to the finish line first.
