Re: winter tires/rims

I almost typed in the same question, I have 215 65 16 snow tires that will fit, but I would rather get some 15 s-10 steelies and snow tires, anyone know if the s-10 steels will fit?!?

Re: winter tires/rims

Best tire i found that gets great traction in the snow is the bridgestone blizzak ws50.Put some weight in your trunk and you'll go thru anything,at least until the snow gets to deep.A member here has some for sale...

Re: winter tires/rims

actually if you wanted to save about 70$ a tire, you buy DAYTON,winterforce tires, make all blizzaks look weak.

the 15'' s10 rims will not fit, the hub on are vehicles are a little bigger than the s10 hub, you could grind the middle of the rim and rely on lugnuts, but i wouldnt recomend it, just my 2 cents

Total b.s., do some research. There's info on the tire rack or any number of sites. Search "performance winter tire" I've used both blizzak and winterforce as well as changed tires for several years, 8hr's a day.

The problem with winterforce is they have good tread only through 1/4, maybe 1/2, of their life. Once you put, say 12,000 miles on them you end up with a bunch of giant smooth blocks of tread (about the worst tread pattern for snow). They become worthless after worn down past a point. When new they work great because of the many sipes (grooves), problem is only half (if that) the depth of tread block is grooved. I'm also pretty sure they use standard type of rubber in their "winter" tires.

I would also reccommend the blizzak ws50, or any of the blizzak tires, the rubber is a totally different compound compared to summer tires. The compound has bits of metal in it, the rubber feels like foam more than it does rubber. Blizzaks are a purpose-built tire, not a summer tire with different tread added. The blizzaks have full tread depth through 90% of their life and they out accelerate, corner, and brake anything I've used winterforce included.

To be fair, the cheaper snow tires work fine, not the best though. I've got a set of "wintertrax" on the back of my s10 right now, blizzaks up front. Edit- my s10 has camaro wheels on it too
