Which are the baddest tires of them all?
Well, I was looking for a set of 245/50/16 tires to replace the 20 year old Gatorbacks on my IROC. The ones I was interested in were the BFG G-Force KDW's. It seems they are no longer available in that size anymore. Damn!
Here's what Discount Tire and Tire Rack list in 245/50/16.

So, which are the best performing tires here? Let's hear some thoughts.

the eagle f1 gs-d3's are probably the best all round street tire. Like most eagles, im sure they dont last long.
the bfg's are good looking tires, and perform well, but not quite as well as the eagle.
but, what kind of performance are you looking for? straight line, corner carving, street, or a mix of 2

The F1's were actually my second choice, the KDW's being my first. I also like the KDW's tread pattern better, since it's more similar looking to the Gatorbacks.

If you do go BFG go with the Super Sport...they last longer and are better in all weather conditions. They are also a newer brand which means they will not only be newer but produced longer than the Sport. decent tires
I prefer Michelin PS A/S and have heard those eagles are top notch...but prefer Potenza's and the uni T construction over any badyear/oneyear tires. They are pretty bad *** even when they are wearing thin.
Sorry if thats not much help...here (I do prefer the potenza but the BFG are cost effecient)
Michelin
BFG
Bridgestone
Oneyears(I have never tested or sold this tire so I am bias...sorry)

I'd be looking for summer only tires, since my car has never seen rain, (other than the day I brought it home from the dealer 20 years ago). I'm not concerned about wear life either, seeing as I've only put 10K miles on them in the past 20 years.

I had Rikkens on my 92 Z. They were ok street tires, fairly inexpensive. When they got a little old they dry rotted quickly. I replaced my rears with the Eagle F-1s. It took .4 seconds off my 1/4 mile ET. Dropped from a 13.4 to 13.0 w/ .50 R/T.
You get what you pay for. Yes they wear out more quickly, but I wanted the traction.
I have BFG's G-forces on my Black Blird, they were barely new on there when I bought it. They have performed ok. however, when they wear out, I'm putting the F1's all around again.
