Does your center cap say MSW on them and by OZ Racing? I have a set of gold colored ones on my 1988 Iroc that look Identical to yours. Mine are made by MSW and designed by OZ Racing. They were very expensive wheels back in 1988 when they were purchased.

Re: does anyone know what model are these American racing rims?

I have 4 brand new of those EXACT wheels that came with my IROC. Based on the mileage on the Eagle GSCs currently mounted on those wheels, I'd say the wheels have $500 miles on them.

Want 4 new wheels cheap??? All I want are the tires...mine are 16s BTW...the ones in the pic are 15s?

Here's two photos of the 88 with the MSW 16" wheels designed by OZ Racing. Click them to make them larger.

When they were being marketed in 1988 they were described as a three piece wheel. The center cap portion is pressed on and is held in place with a locking mechanism. To access the lug nuts you use a lock key to remove the center cap portion. For this style of wheel it is very well designed and built.

I'll try to post pics tonight...they literally are virtually brand new. I do not have the key for the locks, however I got one center cap off with needle nose pliers wrapped in a cloth with no issue.

Hey, I'm very sorry for not getting back to you. I do still have the wheels, and I'm sending you a couple pics from my phone to the above email address right now. Sorry for the delay...I don't have any use for these, so if you're interested in 4 pretty much brand-new 16s, let me know.

Things don't seem to be working out for you guys with your e-mails. As a very last resort try the USPS.

LOL we got it worked out...I guess mine are a little bit different. Based on the above pics, they sure look similar to me, but I digress...

I got them for free, brand new, with my IROC...so I've never paid a lotta attention to them. They might look pretty nice on my Trans Am after I get it painted.

Those are the AR-205's I had them on my 88 IROC for years. I have a complete set of them in 16inch but the clear coat is coming off of them.

Love the gold AREs on that IROC and above. If I could have found some of those when I pulled the "original" Ronal R9s off my red GTA, I would have slapped some of those on there instead of the OEM rims in a heartbeat.

What do you think of the gold MSW 16" wheels designed by OZ racing on the white '88 Iroc convertible compared to the ARE gold wheels?

I don't know (I do, sarcasm) but those are some ugly rims. Makes me think of grandma cars.

they are awesome too but if they were 15x7 i would gladly take them off your hands

if any one has a set of 4 in 15x7 for sale I would gladly buy a set

They are very 1980's. I think they compliment the car well.

Re: does anyone know what model are these American racing rims?

Those are ARE 398s, which are knock-offs of the BBS RS. I believe ARE was sued to stop making them as they were too good a copy of the BBS RS. I would love a set of BBS RS or ARE 398 in all silver 17" or 18" rims... both are discontinued and rare. BBS RS can be found but the prices are high...

Re: does anyone know what model are these American racing rims?

I guess nobody can be upset about an eleven year old thread being revived, when the person reviving it is the OP lol. Having said that... eleven years... still nothing? Did you try general web searches for ARE 398 and BBS RS center caps? That's what you're searching for, right, center caps? Here are three sources I just found right now while reading your thread.

3D printed. There are some excellent chrome paints that should make finishing them an easy DIY project. And there are places online that produce center cap emblems, any size and design.
ARE 398 center cap | 3D CAD Model Library | GrabCAD

This one appears to either reproduce the BBS RS caps, or stock new and/or used. Maybe you can get them without emblems, but if not, emblems pop-out easily. Then get your own emblems made.
BBS RS Hex Caps (¼ Height) – Sensei 6

And here's a set of BBS RS caps on ebay. You'd have to get emblems made for these, too.
BBS RS Hex Nuts RC Center Caps 15 16 17 18 19 Inch Large Thread 2.76in Vw Bmw | eBay

Or just leave BBS emblems on them. Who'll know?
