I want to purchase aftermarket rims for my 1991 Formula Firebird. It has the WS6 suspension package, 305 v8, TBI.

The front rims have a different offset than the back, to accommodate the calipers, pads, and large center-hub.

What aftermark rims can I purchase to fit properly on this car? I tried 18" American Eagle Boss 338 rims, 245/40, but the front didn't fit properly. The center hub rubbed on the rim and prevented proper fitting.

What size did you try up front? I have Boss 338 18x8" 245/40/18 and they fit, if I remember correctly the center cap would not go on without a small spacer (clearance for the bearing dust cap) but the wheel did not rub. I used one similar thickness to the factory 16" rear wheel spacer, then no problems at all. I run 18x9.5" 285/35/18 in the back with no spacer and no rubbing

By the sounds of it maybe you tried the 9.5" up front which may work for some rims but the 9.5" 338 have the wrong offset to work on the front of our cars.

I was trying to install the Boss 338 18x8" 245/40/18 all around. They fit fine on the back, but would not clear the front center-hub, just as you advised.

I placed an order for some spacers and will try it out. Will let you know how it goes.

Post some pictures when you have them mounted. 91-92 Formulas are my favorite looking thirdgens(aside from Hawks.)
