Re: Tire Chains

Josh--
If you get these, please post your experience!!
I was thinking about these for our other car.

We get ice a couple times a year, not to mention when the snowpacked roads freeze over!! Our streets are usualy snowed over, & forget seeing salt//plows on the residential streets...That's a rare sight!!!

Too bad studded tires are illegal for citizens cars here!! I'd get them if I could!!
( I know, just don't get caught with them LOL )

Re: Tire Chains

when taking off from a stop if you put it in second and ease into it slowly it helps. in know 4th gens had a button like that for winter that you could start in second. where do you live that you have no storage room?

Re: Tire Chains

I am thinking of getting chains. Snow is not the issue. It's ice where I live. The roads out in society are perfectly clear, but the campground where I live is not so good at maintaining things in the winter. Today was almost 40 degrees, and tonight will be below 10 degrees. Everything turned to slush today, with nowhere to drain, and tonight there will be inches thick of ice. I see no reason to buy snow tires. This car is great in a couple inches of snow, but NO vehicle or special tire will do anything in ice unless you have metal biting into the ice.

Re: Tire Chains

I remember in my 1987 Operating manual under tires, a note about NOT USINING TIRE CHAINS. So you may have a problem with them on 3rd Gen model.

Re: Tire Chains

I can't forsee a problem arising other than me being stuck at home, not being able to get to work, losing my job, losing my home, losing my car, etc.
