89 Formula 350 tires
Ok gang, first, I apologize for my ignorance, I just bought a 1989 Formula 350 bird with t-tops and WS6. Today, I took the car for its first oil change and tire rotation, as I have the mechanical ability of a rock (haha)! I was told by the tire shop that the rear tires dont fit on the front, thus the rotation was not done. I cant seem to find alot of informtion, but what I could find is that there is indeed two different sizes from the factory. Is this correct?
If this is the case, then why are the front ones uses all way around? Thanks for any information on this that you can offer...

Well the rims can't be rotated because the rim may start hitting your brake calipers and etc, the fact the same tire size on them is that multiple tires can fit on the same rim, figure the smallest is (Example) 205/55R15 and the largest that can fit could be 235/55R15. Maybe the previous owner just wanted similar looking tires?

If you can find a extra pair of front wheels to put on the rear, then you can do a standard tire rotation.
Otherwise, you can still rotate the tires, but not the wheels. You would have to pay extra for the tires to be dismounted, swapped between the front & rear wheels, remounted & rebalanced. Then you have rotated the TIRES, just not the wheels along with them, as is done on a standard tire rotation job.
You might even get lucky in that 4 front wheels are already used on your car. Just look & see if they are identical in spacing & see if the rears have 'REAR' cast into them.
