Re: how to stop the rattle?1?!?

There usually is a rod with a hook on one side that hooks "to" the side of the car (there is a bracket for the hook mounted to the side of the car in the tire compartment.)and runs through the tire/wheel with a LARGE "wing nut" that screws to the other side of the rod .As you tighten the wing nut it pulls the tire and wheel snug to the side of the car. It will not move after that. You should be able to find one at a Pic-n-Pull.

Re: how to stop the rattle?1?!?

well pull off the cover and see what is possibly rattling...If you shake the tire and it moves then you need to tighten it more or maybe you'll see the jack positioned wrong.

Re: how to stop the rattle?1?!?

I had the same problem but it was the spare rubbing against the bottom of the compartment and the back of the rear inner fender well. The chirping noises were annoying.I tightened the wing-nut as tight as I could but it didn't help so I just folded a towel and draped it between the metal of the body and the spare.Worked like a charm,no more chirping.
