wheel tire size confusing as hell

Ok i did read everything i ever wanted to know and quite frankly...I'm lost...

the wheels I'm looking at are 17x9 with a 0 degree offset and a 5" backspace (again its hard to make sense because wouldn't that mean its a 4.5" backspace????) anyway that's what it says. so im wondering if they will work or if i'll need spacers, i have the lt1 style brakes on the back stock fronts for right now planning on the 98-02 style on the front this winter.

also the tires are 245/45r17

i would really appreciate anyone that can help again I'm really sorry but for what ever reason this stuff isn't sinking in

Yes, it would be 4.5", except then you'd have no lip on the rim part of the wheels.
With stock brakes, your proposed wheels fit fine. Why 245/45s instead of 275/40s?

Re: wheel tire size confusing as hell

Thanks for the help, the reason for 245/45 is because i was looking at kumho ectsa's because they dont cost an arm and a leg, and they look good. I think i've seen them for 120 but i haven't researched bigger, Will the 275/40 fit without any problem? I really dont want to have to deal with rubbing or modifying me wheel well.
