Factory Wheel Locks?

Has anyone seen one of these:

It's a black plastic bag about the size of a 5"x7" photo and contained the wheel locks on my Camaro. I have lost the key to the locks. Not sure but I think the "FFF" on the bag is the code for the key.

IIRC you need the code from the ID card. I also had the bag but was not able to get the lock. I had to go to my local chevy dealer that had a master set. Call your local dealers and see if any have an amcor master set.

Re: Factory Wheel Locks?

87350IROC thanks for reply. Below is the actual lock. I went round and round the various wheel lock suppliers (including Amcor) and no one was familiar with this one. Perhaps it's too old being from a 1988 vehicle. All I have is the bag and do not ever recall having a card. Also below is a pic I got on the web of the type of key similar to mine.

Has anyone seen a set like this? Mine was located in the rear storage compartment.

That is a factory Amcor lock. I just bought a replacement key for my car 2 years ago from them. Looks the same as yours. I believe many times the id sticker is stuck to the door jamb, inside the center console, inside the owners manual, or in the rear hatch compartment. I could not find mine either and had to go to a locally dealer that luckily had the amcor master set.

Re: Factory Wheel Locks?

my gta has that same locking kit bag..... i guess it was standard on gta's.. it came with a lock key and a special locking nut on each of the wheel to prevent them from getting stolen.... but if you have the tools you can still get that locking nut off.... i did when i misplaced the locking key...

Re: Factory Wheel Locks?

88fastgta: Does your kit bag have the GM part number and code "FFF" like mine, or do you have something different? Did you ever find your key, and if so, is there a code stamped on it? Maybe you can post a few photos

8735IROC: Sorry, didn't see your link earlier (was in a hurry this morning). It appears I have the Item 2 type wheel lock.

Anyone: Short of calling every dealer in town, is there any other way to find out which dealers would have the Amcor master set?

I have the bag, card and key unopened with a 1991 z28 I just picked up. Never thought it was factory though.

Re: Factory Wheel Locks?

if you are not interested in having them or saving them you can remove them with a metric 12 pt, 18mm I believe, hammer it over the lock and remove them. I had to do that on mine because the PO lost the key. Came right off and I replaced them with standard lugs.

Will do that as a last resort. I'm trying to keep the car stock with all the original stuff. Hoping someone will crawl out of the woodwork with a matching key.

My bag also has the FFF. That is not the code. Amcor requires either the code or the key color. For instance my key is the Orange one. I believe Amcor was able to tell me which dealers had the master set. Or at least who HAD the set.

Re: Factory Wheel Locks?

For the good of the group. When I needed a key about 6 years ago, Chevy 21 was the only dealer in the Lehigh Valley, PA that had the set. They are probably even harder to find now.
