performance 15 inch tires

Hey all, I am building a road course 86 bird and was wondering if anyone is running performance 15 inch tires. I would like to retain my stock 15 inch wheels because I like the way they look. I'm not going extreme just want to run a 95 mph class. BTW you can check the event out at sorcrace.com or also youtube at sandhills open road challenge. Thanks.

Re: performance 15 inch tires

I'm going to be really blunt, unless you are drag racing you won't find decent tires for 15" rims these days. You need 16"s to even have a selection, to have a GOOD selection you really need 17s.
Besides, it will handle better for it, which is one of the reasons pushing everything toward bigger rims, that and bigger brakes, and style. More rim=less sidewall, metal doesn't flex much, rubber and air DO.
I hate to say it, but you can't expect to find many good tires for 15"s, and even if you could, you should still go to 16s or 17s, I wouldn't go higher than 18s though.

Re: performance 15 inch tires

BFG makes a Z rated tire. I have them on my Camaro and for the life of me I can't remember the exact tire they are. I've only put a few 100 miles on them so I can't really tell you how great they are at handeling.

My engine has been out since May so I haven't driven it in a while, but the tire isn't too shabby at all. The tire doesnt have a tendency to squeal easily though.....
