Legit 88 GTA Rims?

Hello everyone, very happy to finally be a member of this great site. I don't own my own F body yet but I hopefully will soon! haha

That being said, I have a question for all you GTA experts right off the bat. haha There's a 88 GTA I'm looking at maybe buying, but the rims on it have me a little confused. I'm no 3rd gen expert by any means but these rims don't look like any of the GTA wheels I've seen in the past. The guy claims they're original but I'm not so sure.

Thanks for all your help! I look forward to interacting with all of you guys in the future!

Re: Legit 88 GTA Rims?

Nope. Not GTA Crosslaces.

The dimple at the end is what gives it away. GTA Crosslaces are an enclosed "hole". Those appear to be a slot out to the polished lip.

IIRC, those are Fiero crosslaces, but definitely NOT Firebird ones.

For 87-only, there were no dimples but are otherwise identical to the pic I posted above.

Hmm, that's about what I expected. I researched the Fiero rims a little because I thought the same thing, but couldn't find any that had that "concave" appearance to them. But I didn't think they were actual GTA wheels.

They look like the 15x7 crosslace style wheels that you could.get onthe base firebirds. Ask what the tire size is. That wil tel you if thet are 15 or 16 inch

Yep, looks like you're right. Did a little more searching and it looks like they are firebird rims, but still not real GTA's.

Another T/A with the same wheels...

Still gotta see the car up close for myself but I'll let you know if I decide to pop on it or not.

Re: Legit 88 GTA Rims?

I have a set of 4 GTA rims that Im planning to put up for sale in this forum soon. Just took them out of storage today, I got 2 rear black centers and 1 front black center and 1 front gold center rim. Im also going to throw in 4 new chrome center caps with red firebird logos in them. The rims have tires on them.

Yeah and they cost what... $500 for the set? You can find another GTA with the correct wheels for less than another $500 over the car he's looking at.

For you to assume a price on something that your not selling is rather reckless dont you think? How do you know how much Im selling them for?
The rims would be starting out much lower than 500$ for your information.

Re: Legit 88 GTA Rims?

Thanks for all the info guys. Talked to the guy a little more and it turns out the car needs a transmission overhaul, which is something I don't have the time/money to do right now, so I think I'll have to pass. Thankfully there is an '89 GTA that I'll be looking at next weekend.

I know they're desirable, AND they have tires on them. I think in good condition with tires $500 is a fair price although I have to admit Im not too up to date on what those go for. I would imagine they're probably the most valuable third gen wheels though.

Regardless, it's always easier to just hold out for a properly equipped car. And I didnt have a problem suggesting that because Ive got no doubt that you'll be able to sell those quickly. They are, after all, the lightest 16 inch thirdgen wheels and they look just as good on Camaros as they do Firebirds. I very nearly scored me a set a while back, I still regret missing out on them, but that opportunity is long gone. Good luck selling them.
