I have 275/45/18R tires on the back of my 86 z28,

Problem is they do not tuck what so ever and any suspension flex brings the fender right down on them. My tires are getting torn to shreds from just normal driving!

 

Get a wheel with proper back spacing.



You could also try rolling your lips.

That tire should be a 275/35/18 in order to keep the same o.d. as the stock tire size...could be part of the problem, as that tire is taller than stock.

 

The aftermarket Irocs aren't backspaced differently like the factory are, are they(front and back are different from the factory)?


If they aren't I'm betting they use the front backspacing on all four(stick out slightly more). Your options(like stated above) are rolling your fender lips and a smaller tire if you use those wheels. From the pictures it looks like rolling the fender wells would be all you need.

 

They are definitely out further than the stock rear bs wheel, but appear to be further out that where the fronts would fit with their bs. Your not using any kind of spacer in there, are you?

Considering the gap between your tires & finders, I'd say your shocks are worn, allowing the car to come down too far & too easily.

And they have small spacers, but when i take them off the wheel grinds on the brake drum, also the rear wheels are quite wider than the front.

How would i roll fenders? Remember i'm new to cars

(i got the car how it is)

 

18"s rubbing on drum brakes? How/Where are they rubbing? Should plenty of room.

I'd start with new shocks but also look into your 18" wheel/drum brake rubbing issue.
