Help with 17in rim/tire sizes
I'm going to buy rims and tires for my 91 Camaro. I like the look of 17in rims and I think that size is a good compromise between ride quality and looks. I also want to be sure what ever size of rims/tires I go with fit with no rubbing front or back since I plan on driving this car quite a bit.
I've had several vendors recommend a 17x8 with 4.5in backspacing and 245/45-17 tires. That size tire and rim is equal in diameter to the stock wheels at about 25.7in. I know that size will fit so I may go with that. Anyone have that size on all 4? Pics would be great if you do.
The next size in rim width is 9.5 inches wide would that fit on the rear? and with what backspacing and tire size? Pics would be great if anyone has that combo too.
I'm open to suggestions on tire and rim sizes..let me know what you think woud look best, not rub, and fit with no modifications.
Right now I'm leaning towards going with a billet specialties rally wheel, I've never seen them on a car but I think they would look great on a thirdgen. I have attached a couple of pics from the billet specialties website.

9.5 will fit front too (rear is easy) if you spec the bs right. The Firehawk wheels were 17x9.5s so that makes it a "factory" sized wheel.
I have 17x9 5"bs/0 offset up front with 275/40s & they fit great.

Re: Help with 17in rim/tire sizes
A lot depends on what else has been done to your car or what you want to do. I've got 275/40 tires and I get a little rubbing on the liner at near full lock. Possibly because my car is lowered a bit (sagging springs). You would almost certainly be fine with 245 or 255.
If you go to 275 you may start to have issues and need some small mods.

If you want narrower, go for it. I just don't see the point increasing the wheel diameter when you not going wider as well. Since the factory did it with warranties, you know it can fit right when done right.
