These are going on my 17x9 ZR1s. Planned usage is some Auto-X/HPDE, but mostly street usage in fair weather. Will snap some pics once they are mounted. Car is not lowered, that needs to be done as well.
I considered the Conti Extremecontact DWs. Lots of the Auto-X guys on street tires seem to recommend those if you are going to run in the wet but have less dry grip. Didn't want to go R-Compund. Car spends most of its time on the street.
$670 from Discount Tire Direct.

I have the same tires on my 17x9 SS wheels, 275/40R17, they are spectacular in the dry and not too bad in the rain either. I got caught in a rainstorm a few days after putting them on and was very impressed but still drove carefully.

I had these on my 98 z28. Great dry tires. I also run these on the front of my Iroc. I was going to purchase the nt05r's for the rear but my size was on back order so I went with bfg drag radials instead. Tread on these nt05's look real good.

Good tires, with good feel to them. I have the drag radials in the back and my fronts wore out faster than the rears for some reason. Dont have alot of tread life to them. Good in the dry, the radials are terrible in the rain. Normal NT05's should be ok tho as long as you are careful.

Re: Just ordered some NT05's for the GTA
It will probably see 2/3 Auto-X a year, maybe 1 HPDE. I intend on getting a set of DR's for dragstrip days. I have 6 16" salad shooters. I'll either find another set of 2 ZR1's to put DR's on, or use the 16" salad shooters for their taller sidewall. Don't know which DR I'd go with, but I can't afford a set of DR's right now so its moot.
I drive about 16,000 miles a year, but thats the DD. The GTA has only saw about 1800 miles last year. So while the low treadwear means they'll wear out faster, it probably won't be because of milage.
Motor is hopefully going to make between 400-420rwhp if everything works out well. Heads flow north of 280cfm @ .600" and the cam is the LE 226/232 cam. I have considered going higher, but with a stock bottom end I dont' want to push the RPM. Going to have a shortblock for next year with better parts, probably change cams at that point.
I figure I need tires capable of handling that. The current tires are barely sufficient for the power it makes now, and thats not alot. It is trapping near 103mph @ 3750lbs race weight.
