Your preference wheel choise 17/18 or 18/19

Im looking at buying some z06 wheels. I can get them in 17/18 or 18/19. Im afraid the 18/19 will look to big, or just right with a future 1.5-2" drop.

I don't know which ones to go with

whats your preference?

If anyone has pics with any 18/19 setup post pics

Re: Your preference wheel choise 17/18 or 18/19

I just put up a pic on this forum of my IROC with 18" Rev wheels. Fronts are 18x8 and rears are 18x9. Hope this helps.

18's are perfect size for these cars.

In all honesty, 18" wheels all around look best, but in terms of performance, they are pushing the limits of bump tolerance - unless you are on ultra smooth roads. I would suggest you go for 17" or 18" (if you have smooth roads) all around. Staggered sizes make little sense as you are putting a less compliant, lower profile tire of the live axle end of the car.

I have 18" all around and they look great. I have not lowered the car so I can't tell how they would look, but I do wish the rear had less gap showing. I have seen 18/19" combos and they look great. You can't go wrong with a larger rear wheel.

Go with the 17/18 because it will look better.

18/19 in my opinion. I am just curious what someone would charge to do the GTA crosslace wheels in those sizes.

Re: Your preference wheel choise 17/18 or 18/19

To "do" the GTA crosslaces? As in have a set of custom made wheels? It's been discussed before, a completely one off set of wheels would be at the very minimum $5k and up to and over $10k in most cases. There are plenty of wheels out there that look very similar to the crosslaces that are made in larger sizes.

Re: Your preference wheel choise 17/18 or 18/19

I haven't yet seen any wheel larger than 18" that I think looks right on a thirdgen, so my vote is 18/18, but if it must be staggered, then 17/18.

Re: Your preference wheel choise 17/18 or 18/19

I prefer 17 or 18in wheels for these cars and the same diameter front to back. I went with 17x8 w/4.5backspacing front and 17x9.5 w/5.5 backspacing rear on my Z28. For how I use the car I think 17in was the best compromise of looks, performance, and ride quality...18in would be my 2nd choice. Look at as many pics as you can find and figure out what look you like the best.

Re: Your preference wheel choise 17/18 or 18/19

Well I have the 18/18 set-up and wish that I had 18/19 combo for looks. If the roads were better I would even push the envelope further and run a 19/20 combo on here.

Re: Your preference wheel choise 17/18 or 18/19

Well here is my car with the 17/18 combo. Honestly I don't like it. the main reason beig that in this picture, the suspension is actually set lower in the front, however since the rear wheel is larger, it has a closer proximity to the fender lip. Creating the illusion that the rear is actually lower. To me it just doesn't seem balanced. I'm going to get a pair of 18x9.5 wheels to replace the 17's up front.
