Wheel and tire size backspacing
I just bought a set of wheels for my 91 Z28. The rears are 9 1/2 x 18 with 275/40/18 tires. Front is 18x8 with 245/40/18 The rear is a 5" backspacing. Im concerned that the tires are too far out and will rub when I lower car. No issues with stock suspension. Have I chosen wrong backspacing or wrong tire. Most wheel/ tire pkgs I've looked at have this wheel but a 275/35/18 tire. Any help will e greatly appreciated...

The wheels should have had a little more BS in the rear, but should still work with a lowered car. So long as you have good shocks in the rear all should be fine.

As 86TA said, the rears would fit better with more backspacking. 9.5 width rear wheels with 5.5in backspacing fit perfect on my car. With only 5in backspacing your tires will probably not clear the fender lip, you may have to roll them.

Thanks, yeah I think I'm going to have to order two new wheels. It works now but lowering springs are on the way and I can't see a way they won't hit. My bad for not doing enough research...
