Which wheels do you think?
i currently have 15x7 cragar ss's on my car they are 15x7 all the way around. I have always wanted to get a set of 15x8s for the rear. but while looking ive come across the aluminum version of the wheel which i like a lot. also i am still up in the air about the 275/60's i am thinking a wider wheel will make me like them more. the price is only about 250 dollars differnce between getting 2 or 4
so basically should i get 2 regular 15x8 and throw them on the back on get a set of 15x8 aluminum for the rear and a set of 15x7's for the front?
the regular cragars run uni lug now which id prefer not to have.
The aluminums are perfect if i did my research right they are 4.75 lug pattern, 4.5 backspace for the rear and 4.25 for the front. and dont run a shank lug which is also good.
what do you guys think?
thanks

Aluminum is a great idea. Lighter, and looks better.
But please consider 16"s. Those things are drowning in rubber.

Re: Which wheels do you think?
Maybe even 17's...better selection, but nothing wrong with 15's. Seems like you could go in a little further on the rear Backset? Maybe 5.5"? Then you can run a wider wheel on tires...just a thought...
The BS on my 17" wheels is around 5.5 or 5.75" and 275's tuck right in with 9.5" wide wheels. Something to ponder...
EDIT: Nice ride BTW!!

I will agree with Confuzed on the 17's - not only due to my company actually making them for the f-bodies, but also the extra performance they offer at a reasonable price these days. No reason not to have a 275-40-17 on all 4 corners if you go up to 17". Keep in ind there is a decent selection of stock diameter 15" tires out there too - if you stick with that size.
Good looking car, BTW.

Re: Which wheels do you think?
No SS's please. They look good on older car, but not that great on 3rd gens IMO. You know if you have to stay with a SS they make a gray one now that looks much better, might want to look into them. I agree that 17's are really the way to go. I gave 16's on my TA and will keep them since my car is original, but if I was to get new wheels they would be 17" or 18"s

Re: Which wheels do you think?
Paul, if I was going to get aftermarket I would probably get the wheels you make for thirdgens as they are lighter, have the correct backspacing and are a perfect size to fit.
Personally, I like the IROC style wheel and no aftermarket company makes them wider (unless you modify a replica wheel or something). There are good options still for 16" wheels (245/50/16), such as:
1) Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....GSD3&tab=Specs
or the tires I have which are AWESOME and alot cheaper: Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
The other options for this size can be found on tire rack here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...50&diameter=16
There are still decent options and probably more than good enough for most thirdgens running stock 16" size wheels. If we're talking racing then most likely racing rubber would be used at that point.

Personally I would get the BFG G-Force sports over the two tires you link to above.
The reason why you can't find reproduction IROC wheels is the fact that they are cheap high volume knock offs meant to fit a whole range of cars - most of which cannot fit a 9.5" wheel.
I've had a slew of CMC racers purchase our wheels due to Toyo stopping production of their 16" race tire, even though 90% of the racers use that size. They killed their street tires in 245-50 and 255-50 over 4 years ago (they honestly sucked anyway).

Re: Which wheels do you think?
thanks for all of the replies guys. But i was mainly asking about the aluminum vs the chrome ss's. i respect all of your opinions but i am very happy with the car how it sits right now, it has even made it in camarosources calender 2005? i believe. i have thought about my other options already wheel size. but dont want to drop a grand + wheels and tires. rather use the tires i already have. i need tires on the rear of my trans am as it is and the ones i want are 260ish each, i was thinking of pushing that off for now since neither car is a daily.
2007xl50 the eliminators arent bad looking. they just arent grabbing my attention as much as id like.
if anyone has any suggestions for 15's let me know i am always open minded.
thanks again.
