How do large wheels look on non-ground fx thirdgens?
Ive been looking around at brake upgrades for my 86 sport coupe, and most of the swaps that i come across require at least a 17 inch wheel to fit a nice size rotor. So now i started looking into larger wheels for my car.
I just would like to see some pics of thirdgens WITHOUT ground fx, that are running 17 inch+ wheels. Most of the non ground fx cars i see just look like the wheels are too big for the car, which is why I'm crossed between what size to get. But then again, i have seen some sport coupes with larger wheels that look absolutely amazing.
So if you can post some pics of your groundfx-less thirdgens with larger wheels, whether they be corvette or aftermarket, it would be greatly appreciated
.
I have 16 inch gta rims on my car now, which i really like, but for the 5th gen brake swap i want to do, I'm going to need bigger wheels.

Imo it doesnt look good. But in general i dont like thirdgens without gfx. 17's arent a big wheel tho and would look fine. 18's fit most cars with gfx. Bigger than that it starts to look hotwheels matchbox like imo. I have 18/19" staggered wheels but tall sidewall on 19's so it makes it look smaller. Still, from some angles its alittle too much wheel

You hit the nail on the head - most modern brake upgrades require a 17" wheel minimum, not to mention the lack of tires in the stock 245-50-16 size now.

Thats how i feel about larger wheels on these cars. I really like the sport coupe look with 15 inch rims, and 60 sidewall. Makes it look like more of a dragster. Even with the gta rims on the front, im not crazy about the look from the front, too much tread can be seen from the wider rim. They kind of look like they stick out.

here's a decent pic of mine with the 17" zr1 wheels. still enough fender gap doesnt look too large for the car
... however it is a firebird but same basic thing
