your ideal rim/slick size?

I'm going to drop some $$ on new rims and slicks for my TTA, just wondering what you would buy if you were to do the same? I was thinking 8" rim with 4.5" backspacing and a 28 x 9.5" slick?

If it were me (and I own a wheel company), I would first decide if slicks were the way to go or not - I personally prefer drag radials and hate how a slick car drives on the track. That being said - since your car has about the same power as one of mine, I would advocate getting drag radials and prepping the suspension to hook up with them (TQ arm, air bags...).

Question for you - do you have a set of wheels already you want to match, want a new set, just a pair? Also - is this car street driven mostly, or only a track car?

Re: your ideal rim/slick size?

I drive the car a few times a month max on the street, but I have a new set of BFG sports on the original rims so I don't want to buy drag radials to use for both street and track. I have a solid spool rear end so I only get about 1,000 miles of street driving on drag radials.

I haven't used DR's much on the track, what don't you like about slicks?

I'm able to cut 1.6 60' times with slicks I had, but they are worn out and 10yrs old now. I still run the stock TQ arm (hard to find TTA aftermarket), only rear mods I've done is panhard bar and yellow bilsteins.

You explained a lot here and I understand.

The ultra floaty and wandering feeling of the slicks at high speeds honestly scares me - especially in a car that is ultra stable on street tires.

Have you looked into the trans x-member mounted TQ arms (if they fit) your car? Obviously you aren't going to want to hack up a TTA with some oddball ladder bar setup or anything. I know Spohn makes an arm that can be used with 200R4 transmissions....
