zr1 wheels

I got a set of zr1 wheels from a 4th gen camaro. Trying to put them on my 92 camaro. The rears fit but they are a little tight. And obviously the fronts dont fit cuz of the hub. Granted I could grind the wheel where the center cap goes in just to take the lip off and they would fit. But the rears are to wide and hit the car. Just wondering if anyone has these wheels on there 3rd gen or has any other 4th gen rims on there 3rd gen and how big the wheel spacer has to be to make them work

Re: zr1 wheels

That style of wheel has been offered in 3 different widths: 9.0, 9.5, and 11.0, plus the 11s have been offered in 2 different offsets. So you need to verify exactly what you have before we can help. Also, does your car have a 3rd-gen axle or a 4th-gen axle? The difference is 2 inches per side And what front brakes are you running? Because that makes a difference. For example, oversize rotors on machined 1LE hubs will be 0.6 inch different per side from standard 10.5-inch brakes.

Re: zr1 wheels

Its a 92 RS factory brakes. 3rd gen rearend. I took the 1.5 inch spacers off my 4th gen and put them on the rear of my 3rd gen. I mounted the rear wheels for now. I dont have anymore spacers for the front but I found out I need a 2inch spacer for the front. Looking for spacers now. Just to verify, the hub bore on the front is 70.5mm?

Re: zr1 wheels

my 17x9.5 and 17x11 zr1 rims were originally on a 3rd gen (previous owners) all he had was adapters.

I recall his car having 4th gen calipers not sure about rotors though

this was when they were on his car irocz but not sure the year

believe they are 50/50 offset

Re: zr1 wheels

Mine are 9.5. Your zr1 wheels were different sizes? Wider in the rear?

Re: zr1 wheels

I believe they very well could have been original corvette grand sport rims. But they have either 50/50 or 50 front and 56 rear offsets.

I think you can use 2 inch spacers and they will fit fine.

Re: zr1 wheels

Member blew-by-you on here has them on his car to I believe there all the same size rims and are off a camaro. But not sure if he still gets on here. I sent him a pm awhile ago about what spacing he used but no response yet. But the rear fits fine now with 1.5 and im gonna order 2 inch for the front and if the front sticks out farther then the rear then ill order 2 more 2inch spacers

Re: zr1 wheels

Just because they came off a 4th gen doesn't mean someone didn't put 9.5s and 11s in place of the 9.0s

I think if they were original 4th gen zr1's they would have been 17x9.0 I believe the only true GM zr1 style rims that were 17x9.5 were GS and ZR1, I think the GS vert vettes only came with 17x9.5 front and rear.

Re: zr1 wheels

As has been said, they made these in so many offsets and sizes there's no way to just "know" what adapters you need. My 17x11's need a 1.25" adapter. I think I could tuck them in a little farther but they would rub on the inner fender in hard corners. These would look AWFUL with 2 inch adapters.

Digging the black zr1 wheels

Brings out the grill and headlight buckets but I'm bias to black wheels lol

But 2" with the rear would look awful
