Hi guys,

Now it's time for me to bring out the beast from the garage and I need help with what kind of wheels will fit my Camaro 1991.

Any suggestions ???

Size: 18' or 19' ?
Width: 8 or 8.5 front, 9 or 9.5 rear ?
PCD: I have 5x120.65 but can 5x120 fit ?
Offset: I was thinking of ET20 ?
Tires: 235/50 ?

Here is my take...


Tire space is limited, so I would go 18", otherwise you get a really short sidewall.
Remember a tall tire makes the car even taller, or causes more clearance headaches on a low car.


As for width & offset, you need to first match the tire width, then use offset to center it in the wheel well.


Not sure why you are considering a big wheel & picking a scrawny 235 tire. I'm running 275's & considering bigger on all 4 corners.


Also get the correct 4-3/4" B.C. / 120.65mm.

 

Don't even bother with 8" or 8.5" wheels - the tires that fit are too narrow for performance applications. You really want a 9.5" wheel with a 275 width tire on all 4 corners like Lonnie P mentions above.

In terms of wheel diameter, don't go larger than 18" - the sidewall is too small, so the ride and ability to negotiate road craters goes into the ******* real quick.

 

The only reason I want to go from 17's to 18's is so I can get more backspace (tie rod clearance issue) to run a wider tire.

 

Yes, that is one of the advantages of 18" wheels and tires. Although a 285 is not a problem in 17" to fit...

I forgot to mention that my camaro i s a V6 and I don't race with it just need it for everyday.

But you all would say that I should use a PCD 5 x 120.65mm and not 5 x 120 ?
