Wheel Adapters
Wheel Adapters
Ok I have searched a ton but can't find a straight answer on wheel adapters. I am putting c5 z06 18x9.5/10.5 wheels on my iroc and I know I'm going with 2" since I will be putting in a 4th gen rear and eventually going with 4th gen front brakes. What I can't get a straight answer on is the bore size and wether or not I can use hubcentric up front. I read some say they have fitment issues and most companies say this...
1982-2002 - Chevrolet - Camaro (May not fit on front hub due to hub height issue. Please email us for more information.
Also most are 70.5mm bore with 12mm bolts but the camaros are 70.3mm and 14mm I believe. I don't really want to spend 300+ bucks on Motorsport adapters even though I know they are nice quality.

Re: Wheel Adapters
Im gonna give you some feedback. This forum is kinda like a close community, sometimes people wont come and give ya feedback if they don't know ya or if youre asking something that has been beat like a dead horse like this particular situation. That being said, I had the exact wheel combo on my 91 z28 and all I used was a set of $45 2" billet wheel spacers off ebay.
Here are some pics of my car with your wheel setup. My wheels were off an 04 z06, they were OEM speedline wheels, not replicas.

Re: Wheel Adapters
Thanks for the info. Ya I know the whole wheel adapter thing has been beat to death but there is very little info on getting hubcentric adapters up front due to the hub length. I hear you on the close nit community. I even started a build thread on my ls swap and got little feedback. People on forums always assume you know nothing about cars and never search since a lot don't so it's hard not to sound like one of those.

Re: Wheel Adapters
I recommend you go with hub- and wheel- centric. You'll want 70.3mm ID for both the wheel and the hub. I went with 1.75" thick up front (I'm going with gen II CTS-V brakes that are about 1/4" thicker than stock). I don't know about the 4th gen rotors, but the problem I had was that the rotor covered almost the entire 70.3mm section of the hub, leaving very little left for the spacer to center on. Mine were custom made from Motorsport and, though expensive, they're great quality and the company has great customer service. They understood the hub-height issue and assured me it wouldn't be a problem.
The hub-height problem is from the outside of the hub (near the dust cap) hitting the ID of the adapter at the wheel side. For a wheel-centric adapter, the adapter has to have a lip with a 70.3mm OD on the outer edge. This requires a less than 70.3mm ID for some distance inward of that. Since the hub is tapered, it is less than 70.3mm out near that portion of the adapter so it's possible to do a hub- and wheel-centeric adapter, if the 70.3mm ID does not protrude so far inward as to hit the hub. It's a little difficult to describe in words, but I think I have pics on my build page at the link in my signature.

Re: Wheel Adapters
Thanks. Ya I understand what you are saying. I guess I should be asking what other brands work? Someone on here had issues with their ezadapters or whatever that company is. I'll probably just call around but figured someone on here knew.

I have a 1985 T/A with factory 16 inch rims. I am wanting to install 16 inch chrome 5 star rims off of a 2001 firebird. Does anyone know what size spacers that I will need on the front hubs so these rims will work?
