15x10 rear Backspace

Bought a newly made up set of 15x10 steel wheels with 4.5inch backspace for the rear of my 82 z28,, using Pontiac rally 2 wheels "Jim Rockfords car sytle trying to make the car look relatively all GM.
Tires I am using BFG T/A 255,60,15.

Too much info and out there mainly from people who have not got these wheel sizes on there cars but are ready to give advise.
If you have these wheels on your car what backspace will keep the wheels inside the fenders and de driveable.

275x50x15,s would be a different setup and I am not using 275,s
im using 255,60,s

really my tires would be best on an 9inch wide wheel but I can get them made up here anymore,, nobody wants to do it.
8 inch is too narrow as I cant stop wheel spin even at 60mph or higher.

Re: 15x10 rear Backspace

i have been running 16x10 with 5.15 inches of backspace and could EASILY have put more under there without any cutting or triming. I also ran 275/45r16 all day long back there so I don't expect any problems there either.

Thanks Brian

Its hard here in Australia you don't see these cars anymore and I never saw 1 modified ever except at the drags strip where these are still common with wheel tubs and huge slicks.

I would love a set of 9 inch blank rims but these need to be made up from 2 wheels cut and welded or a 15x10 cut in a lathe and 1 inch removed and then welded up, centers fitted and welded up then powder coated etc, nobody here does this anymore,, its 15x7,8,10 that's it.

I guess I can jack it up with the 10,s on it and measure your 5.5 and I recon that's where it should be too..
I rang the wheel shop and he said he can cut the welds and move the centers back,,,i gotta salvage them rims as 15x10,s are hard to get and imported on a non regular basis.

Anytime Brian drop us a line and if in Australia look us up,,ill show you around, thanks mate

Re: 15x10 rear Backspace

Dear AussieSteve,
You might want to re-read my post. I said 5.15, not 5.5 -- There are MANY MANY threads here on thirdgen.org telling you about proper backspacing so please read them ALL before buying anything or modifying.. Best to find somebody who has the SAME exact wheels as you to make sure it works. But the 275 tires will fit, NO DOUBT if you get the backspace right.
