Just Got Corvette Rims on, not happy with the rears
Just put on my corvette wagon wheels on my 87 Silver Sport Coupe, no ground effects, stock height. Ls swapped it, looks kinda like a sleeper, so I put the bigger more "stock" looking wheels on to keep the theme. The front rim and tire setup look great, its a 255/45/17 (as opposed to the 245/45/17 that comes from the factory).
The rear tires on the other hand, not too happy with. Whoever owned the rims before me decided to put on 245/45/18 tires on (I still dont know why). While they are the same in most aspects to the factory size of 275/40/18 (diameter, sidewall lip, etc, they just look to skinny.
They dont fill the wheel well enough IMO, and I think a big issue is that the rim is so big compared to the tire, the sidewall tapers in towards the center of the rim instead of a little bulge and height.
The main question is if anyone has run a larger sidewall tire to fill the gap (i dont want to lower it), or if you think the stock tire size for the vette will make the setup look better.
thanks,
Ben

IMO you should go back to stock size or similar. If stock was 275/40 maybe go with a 45 instead to get a larger sidewall. If your rears are 10" wide, 245 will be stretched out which will directly effect the height of the tire. I run C6 five spoke on mine and love the look, although the C6 are 18 front and 19 rear.
