Stock replacement front coils!?
Hey Thirdgen, I've spent the past few weeks rebuilding much of my front suspension. I decided to keep the stock height and save money. Yet instead I've been wasting money and I need your help with one simple thing. I don't mean to make a new thread without searching, but I don't know how else to be sure.
I have an 86 Z28 that I believe is an IROC clone. V8, originally equipped with AC, automatic transmission, stock A-arms.
Ive replaced my idler arm, ball joints, struts, sway bar mount & end link bushings, and now front coil springs.
Everything is done, except I can't seem to find the right coil springs. My buddy cut a pair and it's probably 3in dropped. Way too low. Undrivable.
Tldr; what's the partnumber for a pair of stock height front coils? Moog or otherwise.
Please, it's been too long since I've actually got to drive my Camaro!
Thanks.

MOOG 5662 should be what you want I think for an IROC. You can find that part number and a lot of others if you look up your car on rockauto, which is also not a bad place to buy from.

I noticed that set on a couple of sites. I tried 5602, Summit suggested 5608. I went to a local place and they gave me another set that I returned. According to them I've tried 3 out of 4 of the ones they showed me. I don't know what the 4th ones were.
I just need to be sure 100% this time. Id really appreciate it.

5602 and 5608 have almost half the spring rate of 5662. They all have similar load weight and installed height (the 5602 and 5608 have 11 inch install height, 5662 has 10.75). I have 5662 in my V8 firebird w/ automatic and A/C and it is certainly not lower than stock. You say you tried 5602, what did you not like when you had those in? They are definitely a lower spring rate but the installed height should be similar.

Well the thing is, I had a buddy help do the work. However, what he told me was neither of them would compress enough to fit. He took one pair and cut it incrementally so it would just fit. Turns out it's way too low. It's right on the rubbers. I even paid this guy, smh.

They are a pain to get in there, so I can see why he thought that, but yeah bad luck on your part. The 5662s will give you the more sporty ride if that's what you're after.

Stock springs ride surprisingly high, I don't think that most people remember how high these things sat before the springs sagged on them. My '87 TA has springs that still have the stock labels on it that I don't believe haven't sagged much, and I have a few inches clearance between the top of the tire and the fender lip, it's really pretty 4x4 looking.

Re: Stock replacement front coils!?
i ordered the stiffest springs for an IROC that Summit had listed on their website... i saved a few bucks by getting the Summit brand- they have the same part number as Moog, but with "SUM" in front of the part number instead of "MOG"...
they came in Moog boxes..
i'd like to say it cost me about $95, to my door, for the front and rear springs.. and yes, it was a pain to get the first front spring in using nothing but my floor jack, a couple of pry bars, my foot, and a few choice swear words.. but the second one popped right in once i knew the trick..
also, yes, it sits like a 4X4. but i love the way the car feels with them, and i will chop them to lower the car a couple of inches once i make a trans crossmember that allows me to suck my true dual exhaist with an X pipe up closer to the floor..
