Hi-Tech Turbo Aluminum Wheels (Convex) - Center caps??
I really want a set of these wheels, but I'll be damned if I can't find them ANYWHERE! Anyone know where I can pick up a set of decent remans (or reproductions if nothing else)?
For reference (second from the bottom):

Please help!
EDIT: Good source for wheels found, but now need center caps!

Hawks has a set of the deep dish version, but not concave. You could give them a call, they may have a set on a parts car. Third gen ranch may also have a set.

Re: Hi-Tech Turbo Aluminum Wheels (Convex) - where?!
After some more desperate searching looks like I can answer my own thread. I found a place that sells a plethora of stock wheels for our cars, including the harder to find convex wheels:
http://www.wheelcollision.com/store/...C-FIREBIRD.htm
They even have special edition wheels! Anyone ever heard or bought from this place? Prices look pretty good with shipping and all that.

Bumping my own thread...I ordered a set of the convex wheels, but they didn't have the center caps available. I haven't been able to find them anywhere. Any clues where I could find them?

Re: Hi-Tech Turbo Aluminum Wheels (Convex) - Center caps??
Anyone know if the Fiero center caps will work for these wheels?
I found some blank ones at:
http://r.ebay.com/z9atq9
I know the Fiero wheels are smaller, but they are the exact same style...I can't find any dimensions online anywhere...

Re: Hi-Tech Turbo Aluminum Wheels (Convex) - Center caps??
I have good news and bad news for you. Beginning with the bad news, you will have a very difficult time finding factory center caps for those wheels. Scavenging junkyards might be your only way. Sadly, though, 3rdgens have become scarce these days, while 4thgens can be found by the dozens. 10 years ago it was the opposite. More bads news, lol, I have a couple of spares the I've accumulated throughout the years for those "just in case..." moments where I might need one, but I am not going to let them go, sorry.
That said, my good news is that I have dimensions for you, so you can search ebay(an excellent source for center caps, factory and generic), where you can probably find a cap that not only fits, but also looks just about right.
The diameter of the face measures approximately 2-1/2 to 2-9/16, and the diameter of the back plastic whatever-they're-called that snaps into the wheel measures approximately 2-3/8, and the thickness measures 7/16. As for style, it does appear to match the Fiero cap you referenced.
So knowing what you now know, you should be able to find caps somewhere that will work and look "right." As I said, ebay is a great source, and there are also other online center cap vendors out there too.

How is the center cap retained, and could something simply be machined?

Re: Hi-Tech Turbo Aluminum Wheels (Convex) - Center caps??
A few more things to note...
The face of the cap is not flat. It has a slight convex curvature that matches the curvature of the face of the wheel. Most BMW caps have a similar curvature, so such a cap in the correct size might work.
The face is very thin metal, and its outer edge wraps around the edge of the plastic cap; that's how the face is retained, if that's what was meant by the earlier question.
Most caps will probably be advertised in mm, not inches. So you would need a cap in the 63mm to 65mm range, which seems to be fairly common.
And the perimeter of the wheel hub's hole has a recess so the face of the cap fits flush with the face of the wheel. So for your center caps diameter, it will be safer to e're smaller, say 63mm, rather than the larger estimate of 65mm, though 65 might be better, depending upon the diameter of the wheel's hole.
