New tires
looking to put new tires on 87 TA.
16” wheels. Need to replace the stock 245 16 50s.
Hoping to get brand and size recommendations.
was wondering if I can run larger tire on rear.
Like 245 16 50 up front and 265 16 50 on rears.
Can that be done?
i used to stagger my tires on my 69 camaro - 235 15 60 on front and 255 15 60 on tear. Was hoping to do something similar.

Re: New tires
Not many options left in that size. There ARE a few, but I think the best performance tire is the BFG G force tire. Of course, there are other opinions I'm sure.
...as for size, they also offer a 255, which is a little wider....little taller. That's about it for sizes. Up to you as to whether or not it's worth it. I don't feel like it is. ....Toyo (to my knowledge) is the only one offering a 265mm 16" tire. First, it's a drag radial, so not sure if that works for you, but it's also not recommended on a stock 8" wide tire.
As someone with that same size stock wheel......it is slim pickins out there.

Re: New tires
Honestly with the lack of tire options in 16", you may want to go 245-50-16 on all 4 corners. The widest street tire you can get and will fit your wheels is a 255-50-16 these days - even more limited selection than the 245-50-16.
