Hey guys

I hope I'm not just another annoying tire question but I am trying to get 'er back on the road and not sure what tire(s) to buy.

I had one of these go down and would like to get on the road before I can pull the trigger on four. Just looking for ideas as to what matches closely to these or what four might be have a similar look.

These really look like the old softer sidewalled tires so I am nervous that I might screw it up. Any advice would be appreciated

 

There aren’t many tires left in the stock tire size. The closest to what you have now is the BFGoodrich Sport Comp-2.

At least buy 2 tires for now, but really should replace all 4. How old are those Comp T/A’s? They have been out of production for a while.

 

Comp T/A VR4's from the look of things... I bought the last two Tire Rack had available in about 2006, so yeah they're probably due to be replaced. LOL

As noted there aren't many options for a 245/50R16 tire available anymore. Pick whichever you like, and order a pair or a full set as soon as you can. The way things are going, I wouldn't be shocked if the few remaining options thin out further still.

 

As of yesterday, I replaced 4 OEM Goodyear VR50s on my '87 GTA with The BFGs. What a difference that made! I think the BFGs looks great. The shoulders aren't quite as squared as the Goodyears, but the improvements in ride quality offset looks by a wide margin.

 

I have 2 of those off my 86 when I bought it. Kept the fronts as they had some decent thread left.
