Hello Eveyone, I'm new here. Ive been looking for this answer and cant seem to find it here. I have an 89 Iroc and just put on Topline 17x9 all the way around with 275x40x17. Problem is, I wasn't able to put the fronts on because rim seems to touch the strut base. We put a 1/4 spacer but still didn't fit. Looks like it needs a 3/8 or even half inch!! But now the studs are too short.
Has anyone had the same issue? What did you do to fix it? Looks like i may be able to grind a little and get the 1/4" on but not sure if its the right thing to do. If I do a half inch spacer will it make the fronts look like they stick out to far and would i have to balance out the rears?
Pic shows the original wheels up front and the 17" in rear.
Are these the Hawks replica’s? If so you will need a spacer for the fronts. Hawks includes the spacer when you buy the wheels from them. You could buy a spacer and put longer wheel studs in.
Wanted to get some more information before i posted. No these are not Hawk wheels, they are replicas made by topline. I looked into the wheel at hawk and did some measurments. Looks like the hawk wheels are 5.5" backspace and my wheels are 5", which is why my 1/4 spacer does not work. Im a whole 1/2" short!
I could do 1/2" Spacer up front but my rears are not going to look right. and if i do 1/2" spacer in front i'd have to do the same in rear and now i have to change my studs all the way around...
Any ideas? I cant take the wheels back. all the other measurments are the same 12mm offset 17x9
You could run an adapter, that way you don't run out of stud length. Although I am not sure if they make a 1/2" adapter. They typically start at 1". What's wrong with running spacers/adapters on all four?
In 2025, running a quality spacer or adapter is safe, however, if you have the chance to return the wheels and get the proper fitment, that's what I'd do. Just me, but I'd rather get it right if you have the chance. I know Eibach makes some pretty small adapter. I was running 15mm adapters on my 6th gen for awhile while.
Wait, your Topline wheels are 17x9 with a 12mm offset and 5" backspace, but Hawk's 17x9 also with a 12mm offset have a 5.5" backspace? Somebody missed, and if it's Topline, then there's your justification for returning them.
