How the hell do you get the spare into the VERT compartment

I tried for half an hour. I got it out a few years ago, but the effer wont go in. It hits on all four sides. This is for the 10 spoke aluminum wheel, not a huge wheel.

Is it ever. There's that strut brace thats way too wide. Cant imagine why they didnt use a tubular brace. Im tempted to trim it.

Finally got it back in, after i massaged that brace on the gas strut. Goes in a lot easier now.

I think the REAL question is…How do you get the spare OUT, with a flat tire, at the side of the road, on a rainy night?
