Closeup around the clutch fork pivot pin. Just nasty.

Inside of the bellhousing. A nice, thick coating of sludge has blackened everything.

A jumbled, cut-up mess. Glad it is out of the car.

Taking the fuel lines out as a single assembly was very easy. On the parts car, I had to remove them individually as the transmission was blocking pulling the EVAP line out - which ended up being a rusted hunk anyway.

Less comfortable than it looks.

The big hulk sitting on its stand. My neighbor opted to buy it for a couple hundred bucks to turn into a coffee table. I'm excited to see how it turns out.

Father lending a hand to keep the engine from crashing into the firewall. I'd wanted to install my load leveler, but there wasn't enough room along the back side of the head to install the bracket.

I've used this HF furniture dolly for about everything EXCEPT moving furniture. Sure comes in handy when you need it.

Had planned to go through this area with a hole and grommet, similar to the amplifier power wire that is above the ECU plug.

Plug that connects to the command module inside the cabin. Larger than the cable diameter.

All done, calling it good. Tucked back under the car to keep it out of the way.

After working it over for a bit, using the same process as the bellhousing. Scraping, Simple Green, more scraping, brillo pad and soapy water. Wish I'd used solvent!

Right out of the car. At the bottom right corner of the cleared off slash mark is the shell of some unidentifiable nut. Wonder how long that has been sitting up there?

Finished product. I'm happy with the valve covers I bought off eBay for $100.

My very quick-and-dirty porting work, using the carbide bit, then followed up with the sandpaper roll. Also reduced the angle a bit where the intake meets the head.

Found the perfect beveled washers at a local hardware store in Houston while visiting family. $0.80 apiece.

After removing the bushing on the distributor shaft and the other components, my refinished Workmate did a great job holding the shaft to trim off the end.

Carefully torqued to sequence. That's a lot of bolts to do three passes on!

Also measured the depth of the pistons below the deck. I seem to recall it was around 0.035", but don't have my notes in front of me. The deck had been milled 0.006 or 0.007 at the shop.

Steel shaft to do away with the plastic coupler. Would almost certainly be fine for my basically stock rebuild, but was only $12.

My homemade oil pickup tool. Worked for one tube, but the pipe started to flare out by the end. Might not work for a second.
