Description:
This year I put a want ad for a thirdgen with a clean body with or without an engine/drivetrain on the Minnesota Craigslist and I received an email form a friend of the person selling the car. The man was interested in the car himself, but was deterred by the condition of the interior, explaining that it would need everything (seats dash, door panels, carpet etc.) In his location it probably would have been difficult to locate new ones. He told me that it had it had a solid body with NO RUST "ZERO" and I asked him about the doors knowing that sagging doors are chronic with these cars and he told me they closed very well and that the original paint would be able to be waxed and there wasn't a single dent (middle of SD) the asking price was $1,200 we worked out $1,000 and we drove it home back to MPLS MN about 500 miles with NO HEAT in November. It sat in a barn for 10 years and the last time it was driven was about a year and a half ago by the owner. This car however had around 25PSI Oil pressure when in park, but when in gear it went down to 0. As I fettled the gas pedal it fluctuated but was nothing to speak of as for pressure. We were about half way home when we heard lifter noise and it really felt like we were on one hell of a mission, but we made it home safe with our new car. Every time I closed the doors in this car it put a smile on my face at how nice they closed, after driving my 88 for a few seasons with the saggy doors (that only I can close) I'm in love with this car. This summer I hope to get it looking good and add some nice handling upgrades.
