Repacement ECM for 1227165?

I recently bought an 86 TA 5.0 TPI. The car has sat for a few years but is in excellant shape. The computer in the car now is a 16698259, which I thought to be wrong. Is this a replacement for the 1227165 ECM? I am going to check the prom number as it may not be right. A scan check says incompatible prom. Thank You for any help on this one. l

16198259 was a replacement for the 1227165.
Are you sure about that third digit?

Thanks Dave, and yes you are right. It is a 16198259 not the 166 I first typed in. I am pulling the prom tonight and will be looking for the right one tomorrow. (the scanner says incompatable prom) It is looking for a VAT system that does not exist on this car. I am fortunate to have a good freind who is a smog tech instructer and the car is at the school where all the test equipment is.

Would the PROM from the '165 ECM work in the 16198259? I was thinking of replacing the ECM, just wondered if the PROM is interchangeable for both?

Yes, the MEMCAL is the same -- it's the same ECM, just an updated part number and supposedly some reliability improvements, like better quality soldering.
