I've found a good 4th gen leather steering wheel and air bag in the junk yard. I would like to install it into my 92 and it does fit. You all may know that leather 3rd gen wheels are getting pretty scarce and expensive if you can find a decent one. The quesion I have is if anyone knows for sure if the 4th gen air bag is compatible with the 3rd gen circuitry. The connector at the bag is different, but the one at the column is almost the same and can be plugged into the 3rd gen wiring without the shell on it. I know the 4th gen had dual air bags so that is one big difference between the systems. For a test, without wiring through the column, I connected the 4th gen air bag into the 3rd gen system and turned on the key. The SIR light blinked 5 times and then went off just like it does with the 3rd gen airbag. My gut feel is that the bags are compatible, but I would like to know for sure.
