toponline and 90-92 vert tops HELP
Hey...bad news first. My top got slashed last night. They got in and took everything out of the console looking for my detach faceplate to get my stereo. Fortunately, the face plate was with me so they got nothing at all.....just left me with a vandalized top (just replaced last year). Worst part is, my car was burglarized not 5 weeks ago in a hotel parking lot in another city. My insurance must hate me.
Anyway.....I cant remember where i ordered my last top. Topsonline has 2 top sizes for 87-89 and then 1 size for 90-93. Why they incl 1993 models I dont know. And, they dont tell you and measurements for the 90-93 tops.
The confusion is that Robbins tops feature 4 different sizes depending on year and measurement. I think u can get a more exact fit, but they are more expensive by $160.
Anyone used topsonline (for 90-93) and had good luck?
Any advice?

I haven't used tops online but I feel your pain!
I have a Top fitment and install manual - a GM Publication. If you need me to I can take a look at it and maybe get you some info... It might be that the 90-93's were all the same size. If that is the case then you have nothing to worry about as far as fot goes.
I have not heard anything bad about Tops Online
I have heard it said by an installer that Crown tops were the best...

If you would, could you look at the publication. I measured today and found the rear bow measure to be b/t 50" and 51" and the measure across the bottom of the rear window to be 45"-46".
ANyway....could you see about sizes for 90-92 ASC verts?
I'd appreciate it.
Oh and btw, just bought a viper alarm with proximity sensor today!!! Install will be Sunday. Screw those amateurs.

Call the number above and ask for Randy. He helped me measure my top so I could order the right one. Absolutely fantastic guy, spent over 30 minutes on the phone with me making sure I got the right measurements for my new top.

Matthew,
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I had a club meeting to go to after work and did not get in until almost 10pm. It took me a while to find the book. The book I have is the GM 1991 Convertible Service Manual. It did not give any good information on measuring tops. I know I've seen this. Now that I think about it I might know where that was... I will look again at the other book.
I did come up with something that may be helpful. There are two GIF images attached that show detail and part numbers for convertible stuff. The images came from the Fbody CD which I just bought and so far I am VERY impressed with it. Everyone with a Thirdgen should have it!
What you will see on the Images and conclusions that you might make are as follows.
It appears that there was one top design used on the '87 model Vert. That design probably changed for '88 with another change coming again in 88. The Image lists the VIN Number ranges for each top in '88. On the Image for the '89 to 91 there is only one top listed so it is probably safe to assume that all tops from 89-91 (92? most likely) were the same.

I have the tops online convertable top with the glass window (stay fast canvas). The reason they include 93 is because there was no glass window offered in 1993 but it was in 94. The top fits great i have no complaints about it. The glass window is alot smaller than the plastic window just to give you a heads up.

I myself, am upset a bit, to say the least as I wanted to bid on a Topsonline eBay auction for my 1989 Formula replacement top and there are no active auctions now I have my profit sharing check in my hand!
I will say this, considering their Stayfast/plastic top price at $279, I think it's great, but still need new door rubber and an install to boot. Most of my check is going to my Cadillac's new transaxle, which is VERY costly to put in at some places; charging $1800, that I don't have, to rebuild the original tranny!

Have an '88 . Bought the glass window version from TopsOnLine. Great guy to work with...delivered as promised.
Had a local installer put it on...said he would as long as it was a Robbins Top or an EazyOn top. TopsOnline glass are Eazy On.

I got mine from TopsOnline 3 months ago. Fit perfect and looks great. I only payed $280 for the top to my 90 IROC. The best deal was the install. I got a guy who usually only does custom hot rod interior to put it on for another $280. He said he couldnt get it cheaper himself! Good luck
