AC dummy pulley
AC dummy pulley
Does anyone know where i can find a dummy pulley for my AC compressor. I have looked around on the net, but I havnt had any luck. To be quite honest I dont even know the technical name for it. Any help on this would be great.

I would recommend you just get it from gmpartsdirect.com also. I've seen one of these go on ebay for $55 before shipping! It's only $38 dollars through gmpartsdirect and I price quoted it $45 shipped to me UPS ground. Just make sure you get that part number.
If you decide to buy of someone make sure you get a pulley like that. I've seen people from various places on the net try to sale the 4th gen style saying it was for a 3rd gen. The 4th gen is very thin. The 3rd gen has all that spacing on the bracket to mount in the OEM AC bracket.

Thanks man, I appreciate it:rockon:

Its so you can remove your compressor and use the same size belt. like if you wanted to remove weight or free up space in the engine bay.

Wow, that does clean up engine bay. I just need to figure out how to put all that emission stuff and heater hose closer to the manifold (soon to be header) so I can show off my new valve cover on the pass. side. You guys know what I'm talking about? It is all the crap on top of the valve cover. You can see it on the above pic. -89IRO

I've heard it saves 30-45 lbs... you figure in all the tubing, compressor, condensor (mounted in front of radiator), smaller heater box, and what ever else I forgot.
For the emission stuff. If you have the CATS removed or gutted you can do away with the AIR pump and tubing. Go to your local hardware store and get some pipe cap ends to do on the AIR tubing coming off the headers or manifolds. Once you cap that off you can do away with the hose running from each and going to the black box shape. After that's done you can remove the AIR pump totally (located under the AC). You will have to reroute (getting smaller belt) or get a dummy pulley for it. You then can cap off or remove the tubing coming off the CATS up to the passenger side under the hood. It'll clean up a bunch of stuff.

Not the pulley the box that goes on the firewall. when you remove the A/C condensor. They have a box that replaces or came with cars w/o A/C no holes. thnks

The AC Delete (no Air Conditioning) heater box has been discontinued from GM. But you can still get one from Dave his address is Dave's Web Page
I just recently got one from him. I highly recommend him. It came painted black in perfect condition. It had blower motor (which he bench tests so you know it works). I think it was about 80+ bucks.
As for the AC delete bracket and pulley it is listed in the water pump pulley catagory and it has description saying its a pulley as is... but that is the bracket and pulley as seen in the picture... When you get prices this much cheaper than the dealer and they have so many items to list I guess they can't spend too long on each item description.

this is off the topic but you don't need a delete pull for that. jus remove it and all the crappy tubes and crap. and then get a shorter belt. also look in the tech page because you have to reroot the belt but it's not hard. good luck

I used a 967k6 for mine. It was a 350 with all stock pullies (total serpentine) with no smog. When I went down to the 3 piece march underdrive pullies I used a 935k6 (it's 12 bucks cheaper than the 940k6). I guess 1/2 inch is worth 12 bucks to autozone
Anyways both belts fit fine and I've no problems so far with them. They do run a little close to the waterpump pulley but still enough clearance.

I think there's some confusion here. Some of you seem to be talk ing about the A.I.R. Injection pump while others are talking about the air compressor. The first is for directing exhaust flow for emissions and to make the car run better in cold weather while the EGR valve is activated. The other is for your air conditioning. Removing the A.I.R. Injection pump helps performance a little because it takes away some of the engine's restrictions. The AC won't do anything aside from add a little weight as long as it's off.
