EGR holes in runners - aren't these a constant vaccuum leak?
Last night I was simamezing my intake base. I took off the heat shield on the underside of the manifold, and then the 4 pipe plugs. There are holes from the Egr passages drilled into the runners. This is all before the egr valve. Seems like this would draw exaust all the time, correct? Can these small holes be blocked- the egr valve would still be functional- . It seems to me that if we want as much oxygen and gas in the cylinders, why dilute it with exhaust ALL the time? I understand the need for egr at part throttle settings, and blocking of just these holes under the pipe plugs will allow the egr system to still work. Can I block off these small holes in the runners without a penalty? There is no emmisions testing here. It just seems like feeding the engine exaust ALL the time is
Thanks!!

Here's the deal on the passages in the TPI. The holes in the base are the PCV (and CSI) holes. The EGR valve feeds out to the side on the pass. side and up through the runner tube to the plenum. If you don't believe me stick a hose in the EGR holes and the PCV hole and observe where the water comes out.
Leave the holes in the base alone, PCV is a good thing.

How right you are! I mistook the pcv passage for the egr output. The water idea was really good- no passage connection of egr and pcv. Thanks for putting up with the likes of us that don't know all the details yet. Thanks too for helping me out! now the assembly process can go on!
