Nope, early 3rd gens had smaller bars. It wasn't till 85 that the 36/24mm combo was perfected.

82-84 WS6 had 32mm front 21mm rear. Usually if stock, a quick glance under the rear will tell you if it's a WS6 or not. The non WS6 cars rear sway bar is a puney 12mm.

I got a 36mm on the front of my formula. I can't say that it appears to be hollow. It weight atlease 30lbs. Aftermarket companies make some hollow ones, Maybe later versions were hollow, but in 89 they were solid for sure.

I've been told the hollow 36mm front bar weighs in at 22lbs. A good way to tell it apart is to look for a small blow hole on the bottom on the bar right next to the end links. That hole goes from one side to the other, I've shoot water threw it with my garden hose.

Listed from stiffest to softest, front bars came in the following flavors: 34mm solid bar, 36mm hollow, 34mm hollow, 32mm solid, 30mm solid and 28mm solid. Rear bars, all solid, start with the ultra-rare 25mm bar found only on a few Pontiac Firebirds. Moving from the stiffest to the softest, rear bars were also available in flavors of 24mm, 23mm, 21mm, 18mm and 12mm.

What size is 36mm in inches. i know stupid question, but have calculator around. hehehhe. Im havin a problem gettin bushings for the car without goin to pay 5x at the dealer. Ive got a sway bar that measures 1.480 inches, and i can't find nobody that sells bushings that size. or 1 1/2 for that matter

There is 25.4 mm in one inch. so your bar is 1.48 x 25.4 = 37.59 mm. Sounds like you measured it wrong but I would assume you got the 36mm since that was the biggest.

I will weigh the bar from my '87 tomorrow since it's temporarily off the car. It is definately the 36 mm bar, it's quite a bit fatter than the 32 mm bar on my '98. It didn't seem as heavy as it should so I assume it is hollow.
