Just installed Jegs bolt in SFC's

OMG that was the biggest PIA I've ever been put through. I broke three drill bits in the process. The whole job took me 4 hours, and it's like 100 degrees outside. I had to pull the lip under the body out so it would clear the SFC, then i had to pound on the passenger side floor board to get it to mount snug to the body. But the worst part of the whole thing was trying to get the second nut/bolt into the back where LCA is. It was almost impossible to get anything back there to hold the nut so i could get it tight, i had to go buy a 90* angle wrench just so i could get it up in there. I still have to take the car to the local shop and have them welded in there permanately.

On a brighter note I did drive the car and it does feel a whole lot stiffer, and MOST of the rattles are gone so i guess thats a good thing.

Alright i guess i'm done ranting now. thanks for listening. Did anyone else have these problems when putting theres in?

Eric

wow that really sucks. For me I went straight with weld in SFC. I got the kinda cheap ones from Terminator. They worked really well and I didnt have to dent in the floor any to put them in. Plus I think they were only around $200 with shipping.

I installed the Jegsters a few weeks ago. No real problems here. Pics of the install are on my website (link below).

maybe it was just my car then. I wonder if the frame had already flexed so much that something was out of line. my passenger side door never did shut right, but now it does. Owell, i'm still happy with them

I didn't have a problem with them. Took about 2 hours.
And used one new bit.

wow! it sounds like you might've had to twist somethin to get that thing in there. no wonder it was a tight fit. you had to flex the car to get it in there!

I'm on the NW side, too (Warr Acres). I've looked at COFBA's site several times and it appears they are mainly 4th gen (?).

OPS32:

So tell us how you like the Jegster bolt-in subframe connectors! As soon as I figure out if my torque arm faces in or out I will order it and the SFC from Jegs. But I was also waiting for your response. Like many others, I plan to weld in my SFC with another under-body project. For me it will be the LCA relocation brackets.

Love 'em. The car feels like a new car. Rattles and squeeks have been diminished by about 90%, too.

I had planned on driving the car up on all four ramps... But the car had different ideas! The front end wouldn't go up the ramp, and the rear wheels just drove up the rear ramps and shot them out the back! It was kinda funny once, but I tried several times, even putting all the ramps on some old carpet... but it just kept shooting the ramps down the driveway! Wish I'd had that on tape. Anyway, I resorted to driving the front end up the ramps and just jacking up the rear until I could slip the ramps under the rear wheels. If you look at the pics you might notice the ramps face different directions front & rear. I didn't have any problems with any of the bolts. I used a 1/2" drive breaker bar to get the bolts and nuts separated.
You'll love the way your car drives after you get 'em in!

when u took out the bolt for the lower control arm did the rear wunt to go back or forward at all or did it basically stay in one spot?

mine stayed put on the passenger side, but it walked backwards on the driver side. I imagine it's nothing that a wheel chock wouldn't have prevented....

Mine didn't move at all, either side. Everything stayed just as it was before I pulled the bolt.
