Not sure how rare it is, but Ive never seen a thirdgen with those colors before. Its very nice looking though, i especially like the contrasting red headliner/sail panels.

I have seen 1 or 2 early 3rd gen Trans AM's with that interior color combo, the door panels were slightly different, but the seats looked almost identical. I think it looks pretty good tho...

So basically those seats could only go in a charcoal or silver car. Just imagine the clash with red.
Though I guess now someone could always get a repaint and go with sunburnt orange and it would match, too.

He said he found a site that did list it as an option. After all in the 4th gens GM did have red and grey seats and there was a red leather seat option as well. The anniversary cars got pretty wild too. So sometimes GM did some Different stuff.

Vettetrax, can you post your RPO codes (If you still have the sheet) this will be the tell tail for what colors came with the car.
John
In your RPO's you take Take the 1st two didgets of the code, if its a color opwion then they are going to be numbers, and figure out what color it is subposed to be.
For example 19B
19= Black, B=Cloth Interior Trim
(Keep in mind that these are probably incomplete for 82-86, since I used only the info for 87-92 to compile what is here.)
Here is how to figure your colors:
10 Artic White
11_White
12_Silver Metallic
13_Secondary Exterior color (Silver Metallic)
16_Silver
19_Black (Interior Color)
23_Bright Blue Metallic (87 only) (Primary color)
23_Medium Maui Blue Metallic (88-91) (Primary Color)
24_Bright Blue Metallic (Exterior Color)
28 Black Sapphire Metallic (Exterior)
37_Dark Bright Teal Metallic (Exterior)
40_White (Primary Color)
41_Black (Primary Color)
45 Medium Green Metallic (Exterior Color)
51 Yellow Gold (87 & 88) (Primary)
52_Jamaica Yellow (92 Only) (Exterior Color)
52_Gold Metallic (Wheel Color)
60 Champagne Gold Metallic_
62_Lt Saddle / Medium Lt Saddle (Interior Color)
63 Medium Orange Metallic (Exterior Color)
66_Beechwood (Interior Color)
68 Dark Russet Mettalic
72_Dark Carmine (Interior Color)
74_Flame Red Metallic (Primary color)
75_Brilliant Red Metallic (Primary color)
81_Bright Red (Primary)
82_Med - Dark Gray (Interior)
82_Med - Rosewood Metallic (Extreior)
84_Gunmetal Metallic
85_Brilliant red
87_Gunmetal Metallic
98_Bright Blue Metallic (Primary Color)
From there the 3rd didget is what the application is:
A= Body Accent Stripe
B= Cloth Interior Trim
C= Cloth Interior Trim
D= Cloth Interior Trim
E= Cloth Interior Trim
F= Covering Floor Mat, Color
G= Cloth Interior Trim
H= Cloth Interior Trim
I= Interior Trim
J= Cloth Interior Trim
K= ?
L= lower (Secondary) Paint
M= ?
N= Interior Trim Combination_
O= ?
P= Wheel Color
Q= Molding Color
R= ?
S= ?
T= T-Top Color
U= Upper (Primary) Paint
V= All Vinyl interior Trim
W= All Vinyl interior Trim
X= ?
Y= All Vinyl interior Trim
Z= All Vinyl interior Trim
1= Interior Trim
2= Leather with Articulating Seats
3= Leather
4= Leather
5= Leather
6= Leather
7= ?
8= Cloth Interior Trim
9= Seat Belts
that should help...

there are no stickers on it or anything so i dunno where you could find one :\ but i love it, if i come across where ot find one i'll be sure to post it on the board cause everyone loves it, it's a great addition to 3rdgens I just picked up another thirdgen this morning and it has an interior like that different colors though where yours are grey mine is Tan and the center of the seats are grey. It has tan door panels with grey insert in it. its a 86 Trans Am exterior is brown with Gold GFX pretty UGLY combo IMO so it will be painted Black with Gold GFX

Check the trim tag on top of the radiator support. The interior code will be there. Should be something like 17C. IMO that is not a factory interior.

oh this is EXACTLY whats on that tag ontop of my radiator.. i dunno what those upside down T things are maybe underlined 1's? i dunno.. can anyone translate this for me?
The White book does in fact list Charcoal with burnt-orange trim as an available interior color for '83. This interior was available with the following exterior colors; white, silver, black, red, and charcoal.
In 1984, this interior is listed as charcoal with red-orange trim. Paint colors available with this interior remained the same as in 1983. I don't know if the fabric itself was changed, or just the name of the color. Probably the latter.

I've seen that color scheme in a few 86 Trans Ams, but I've never seen it in a Camaro. Very interresting.

Second row: 17C=Charcoal Custon cloth interior, 15L 15U=Paint code Silver, E=Enamel(?)
Third row: AR9=Seat option
Fourth row: Z28=(self explanitory) D80=Spoiler, PT=(?)
Fifth row: 062998= Job Sequence no.(?) Whatever it is it's for plant use.
The charcoal with burnt orange trim was the L/S conteur interior with the "CAMARO CAMARO" on the seats and door panels. Those codes were 17D & 17E. This car has the 17C interior which is charcoal custom cloth. Hope this helps.

I came across a camaro (83 I believe) on ebay today with what appeared to be those seats, but it didn't seem to have the matching door panels.

The door panels look exactly (minus the colors) like the ones in my T/A, were they all the same, is that a dumb question?

That can't be factory, its ugly? Geez, either
a) you're too young to remember/have lived in the 70s
b) you have really strange taste!

The factory did all kinds of horrid stuff in interiors...have you ever seen the early 80s 3rd gens with the "dookie brown" interior?

BTW Vettetrax I like your interior.

This interior is CUSTOM !!
The Charcoal / Burnt Oange (or Red/Oange ) everyone is refering to was the CONTOUR seat option with the Deluxe cloth upgrade availible in 83 & 84. These seats & Door panels had "CAMARO" all over them & came in a 3-tone striped pattern.
Like Jim said - Some cars in the firebird line up had gray and red 2-tone seats, but I think that the cars previous owner took it a step further than just swapping the seats,....... Notice the red headliner and speaker panels - but charcoal plastic panels everywhere !!
It's a custom job for sure !

One thing I do not get is both of the passenger side floor mats are Orange, like the seats, but the driver side is black...
The orange headliner and seats match really close, sometimes matching materials is difficult, especially when there for different applictaions. I played heck trying to find the perfect color yellow for my car to match the paint.
