Bets its either a redundant MAP or hes running it like a independant dual 4 popper.

I wonder why he did IRs into a plenum and then to the siamesed runners. Why not just a big 4" on each side into the plenum? Oh well, not my car.

I seem to recall that he was trying to ensure that the plenum filled evenly. trying to keep from getting lean rear cyls like on the Mini Rams.

I have always been a fan, I wish he could squeeze her through an entire clean pass. that think has more aborted passes than the space shuttle (probably about 5% more power, expense, and complexity than the shuttle too)

How can you not see them?

there are 2 on each side of the block at the back of the engine bay In plain sight in almost every full view picture

Not to be a ***** at all but open your eyes, they are right there.

Anyone know the manufacturer of the purple band clamps he's using on his pipes. I'd like to incorporate them into my twin turbo system to makes maintenance a little easier.

$300 seems pretty steep, but considering a stainless steel v-band clamp is $150+, I shouldn't be surprised. I uded 4 v-bands on my setup, but it made connecting the exhaust together alot easier. I'm assuming those purple clamps are anodized aluminum? I'd like to use them to connect the wastegates and wastegate discharges to the downpipes if they are suitable for it.

I'd like to find out the manufacturer if possible to see if there's a better price. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it.

You're right, the pic blocks off the other 2 turbos (that are there indeed). You can barely see the purple clamp for the second turbo on the driver's side

Here's a source for those aluminum band clamps, $60-$86, depending on size. http://www.aebsracing.com/product_list.asp?pid=6

I was just wondering why does the best time run say 13.something seconds when the car has FOUR turbos? Was that without the turbos? I just want to know. No flame intended.

strapping on flame protection suit now

i dont know if its been mentioned, but this motor was in Popular Hot Rodding's Engine Masters annual mag. wow is this thing all out. not one gasket was used in the design, everything was modified to use o-rings. and the fact that its in a camaro makes life all the more better

SO its basically a big fancy show car? Don't get me wrong, its amazing, but if you spend some $$ like that and put so much time and effot into it, you would probably want to see i run right? I guess when you do somthing that's never been done (has it??) its so hard to tell if its going to work out. I bet when its running correctly it will be one hell of a ride... But thats just it... when its running. Somtimes I wonder if its worth the trouble of shooting for HP numbers over reliability, but I guess when COST isnt a factor... you shoot for power not reliability. One of those Turbos probably cost more than my whole car...

from what i understand it's not a "SHOW CAR" it's a really fast car that has very bad traction problems and he shows it off (which who wouldent) but i'm not to sure thats just what i think

it appears that he has shut it down in the middle of the runs because the indicators (gauges, laptop) showing too many things out of safe range EGT's?, A/F ratio?, oil pressure? creating a need to shut it down to avoid costly repairs. hey they will scrap a space shuttle lauch for one little leak, why not mike?

besides if it has a possibility of flipping over, blowing up, catching on fire, going into the next lane, wouldnt you feel a need to shut it down if your life was on the line as well? Dont forget that he is the man behind the wheel.

I guess everyone has either forgotten about the nasa challenger accident or is too young to remember it.

I totally agree, 100%

I totally agree 100% with you also.

Im not saying its a bad thing hes having problems.
im not saying the guys not doing the right thing.
Im not saying theres anything wrong with shutting down for safety reasons.
Im not saying its just a show car.

All i said in MY post was:
"<b>Somtimes I wonder if its worth the trouble of shooting for HP numbers over reliability, but I guess when COST isnt a factor... you shoot for power not reliability.</b>
END QUOTE
and thats all i said. I said nothing about lives being on the line.

definitely the crashing part adds even more to the mix. I never thought until now of the NASA/NSCA name irony too. as far as nasa and leaks, I used to live near Onazuka AFB (named after the challenger accident scientist) and I was a military policeman in the US Space Command, I have met Astronauts and the breed used to be like Test pilots; all about pushing the envelope, living dangerously, driven, now they are all spoiled crybabies and primadona's that cry over the slightest thing, and yes I do remember the challenger accident because before the WTC 9/11 it was the most shocking thing in my life outside of being in the gulf war.

I was just replying to this. BTW IMO fancy show cars are trailer queens who would never see that kind of action it might get some dirt on the undercarrige of the car or attract dirt to the freshly cleaned windows.

ok I said that but it was wrong. I guess i meant to say,

"So its <b>basically</b> a fancy showcar <b> since</b> he cant really drive it..."

meaning if you have a car, its really unique/scary/nice to look at, and you cant really run it down the track, what else is there to do with it until you get it running right? show it. Show it alot. and so its <b> basically</b> a fancy showcar thats pleasing to the eye but is so radically different/new it cant be driven without somthing needing a fix. I think its amazing.

make no mistake Mike would set it on fire and throw rocks at it, if he thought he couldnt race it. He has that big engine on the dyno or at the track when he's not fixing it. it is just like the spaceshuttle in that way, aborted launches because not enough lights were in the green. he has made a massive undertaking, he wants to be the first, "pro street?" in the 5's I think
